BRIDGEPORT — West Virginia Freedom Caucus founding member and Delegate Laura Kimble is requesting a recount in the Republican primary race for the state House of Delegates’ 71st District after unofficial results showed a six-vote margin.
Unofficial results from Harrison County showed a final vote count of 688 to 682 in the closely contested race.
The recount request comes following the completion of ballot tabulation in the primary election. Under West Virginia law, candidates in close races may request a recount before election results are officially certified.
Kimble has represented Harrison County and District 71 in the House of Delegates for six years.
